New Owners
Mark & Debbie Battle own and operate many businesses presently, but Mark's first job was working in the garage at Little Debbie baking company in Collegedale, TN. There, he washed the trucks and did some preventative maintenance. Debbie worked as an RN at the Health Department in Chattanooga, TN. But their stay was brief in Tennessee because they wanted to be near Debbie's family in Churchville, VA, where they could raise their girls.
Mark & his brother-in-law started a construction company. Soon after realizing construction could be hard on your body and wanting to be more diverse, he bought a semi-truck from the Little Debbie Company in Tennessee. It was then that Mark and Debbie began learning about the trucking business.
His favorite part of the trucking business was hauling logs for the show called Barnwood Builders, and he made several guest appearances on the show. After acquiring seven of his own trucks, he learned about all the maintenance and repairs needed to keep them on the road. This, in turn, lead to his purchase of Eddie's Diesel in Waynesboro, VA.
Mark and Debbie have been proud owners of the shop since January 6th. They believe that the success of the shop originates from their loyal employees. Big Daddy Diesel's customers don't seem to mind the new owners, but they certainly want our experienced, honest employees to be here when they have truck and car issues. Our success is our EMPLOYEES.
State Inspector
Dave comes to our shop every Thursday and Friday mornings to do state inspections. His real job is at Excel Truck Group from Monday to Wednesday. He has been a diesel mechanic for 52 years following in the footsteps of his father. It seem mechanic skills run in the family.
Dave loves to dirt race. He would rather dirt race than be hungry and served a juicy steak dinner. He brightens our days Thursday and Friday morning and that’s a great time to come see us for an inspection.
Gas Mechanic
Wayne was basically born and raised in a mechanic family. His dad and uncles were both mechanics and showed him the ropes. He was 15 when he knew he enjoyed the mechanic's world. He has worked at this shop for three years. Wayne is knowledgeable and is good at diagnosing car issues.
Wayne goes out of his way to help the customers. He has been observed saving a customer $80 on a part because he found it cheaper somewhere else. He appears tough and rough, but he's not fooling us; we know he would give you his shirt off his back. He has seven adult children and an impressive gun collection.
Diesel Mechanic / Inspector
Dustin has early memories of being three and helping his stepdad and uncle work on vehicles. He has been a diesel mechanic for 19 years, and his specialty is all things diesel, including diagnosing and troubleshooting. A real people person, Dustin has made the mistake of giving customers his personal cell phone number. He has worked at the shop here for 10 years.
Dustin is a family man who stays busy going to his daughter's softball games. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, camping, lake fun, and anything outdoors.
Mechanic Assistant
Beto does everything in the shop. He mostly works on the diesel side, assisting Dustin, and handles preventive maintenance. His prior experience was working on a framing crew. Beto states that he likes mechanic work better because you can work every day, while framing has weather-related limitations. He is a very hard worker and translates for our Spanish-speaking population. Beta has been at this shop for over a year now. He has two children and likes to fish in his spare time.
Office Manager
Margaret has worked in this shop for 20 years. She is efficient and knows all the ins and outs with inventory, parts, and billing, and retrieves every rebate possibly. Vendors have told us she will submit a rebate as low as $1.50. Her history and knowledge of the shop are invaluable. She holds the shop together and keeps Mark on task.
Margaret has been married for 48 years, and she has three adult children. She loves attending her church, collecting Barbie dolls, and hanging out with her three dogs.
